Both Southwest and Continental Airlines are cutting flights to and from Valley International Airport in Harlingen due to Hurricane Alex.
Southwest Airlines reported that it will suspend our flight operations to and from Harlingen after 4:15 p.m. today.
The airline said its ability to resume our scheduled service is contingent upon the conditions of the runways, taxiways, other airport services, and city's infrastructure to/from the airport.
According to the Southwest Airlines website, travel is also affected going to and from Corpus Christi.
Continental Airlines reported that it's cutting flights to and from 17 airports in Texas, Mexico, Belize and Honduras due to Hurricane Alex.
Among the affected airports are those in Harlingen and Brownsville.
Continental reported that it will allow travelers with tickets date from June 29, 2010 to July 5, 2010 to make new travel arrangements.
