An Edinburg teacher and a college student from Alamo are facing criminal charges after being arrested in a sting operation to catch on-line child sex predators.

The Texas Attorney General's Office announced the arrests of Angel Castro Jr. and Guadalupe Lopez Jr. on Monday.

Both men were arrested in a joint-cyber crimes sting with the McAllen Police Department on Friday.

Investigators told Action 4 News both men made arrangements to meet and have sex with someone who they thought a 14-year-old girl.

Authorities said the girl was actually an law enforcement official dedicted to tracking cyber crimes.

Both Castro and Lopez were arrested in dual sting operations on Friday.

Investigators said 44-year-old Castro is a McAllen residents but works as a sixth-grade teacher with the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District.

Authorities identified 22-year-old Lopez as an Alamo resident and student at the South Texas Vocational Technical Institute.

Under state law, the crime is punishable from two to 10 years in prison and/or a $10,000 dollar fine.
