Los Fresnos police have arrested three of five suspects linked to a string of burglaries.

Since June 6th, two homes have been targeted as well as the concession building at the Los Fresnos Community Park.

Police said about $500 worth of snacks and drinks were stolen from inside the building.

Juan Araiza has been volunteering to help rebuild areas damaged by the thieves who broke in through a window.

"It makes me sad because they come and buy here.. and then they come at night and do this," he said.

Detective Gilbert Rodriguez said 20-year-old Justin Strong, a known gang member and Los Fresnos native, led a trio of 17-years-olds during the crime spree.

Strong reportedly confessed to the crimes which included two home burglaries on Legion Trail, one of them was his sister's home.

The detective said Strong stole jewelry, stereo equipment and cash to pay for his girlfriend's car parts and to put a down payment for his wedding.

Most of the stolen property has been returned to the victims after they were pawned at a local shop.

Detective Rodriguez said 17-year-old Jacob Herrera was the one who cashed in on the goods.

After tracing it back to him, Herrera reportedly fingered the others involved.

"The pawning was the big break... and that lead to the rest of the suspects in the burglaries," Det. Rodriguez said.

Herrera and Strong remain on the run.

They were supposed to turn themselves in, according to police.

Three other suspects, Jose De La Garza, Jorge Silva and Fidel Martinez were arrested and charged with one count of burglary and one count of engaging in organized criminal activity.

Araiza hopes everyone involved in the burglaries are eventually caught.

He's urging people in the community to remain vigilant.

"They should report anything... especially here... because there's no security guard or anything," he said.

Anyone with information that can help police should call Los Fresnos P.D. at (956) 233-4473.
