A Brownsville traffic stop ended with a brief chase and the arrest of a woman who almost ran over a motorcycle officer and crashed her SUV into a palm tree.

Brownsville police arrested Karina Galvan on an aggravated assault on a public servant charge on Monday.

Investigators said patrol officers were running radar off West Los Ebanos Boulevard near Pace High School when they clocked a black GMC SUV for speeding.

The driver, later identified as Galvan, allegedly sped off and almost hit a motorcycle officer who had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.

A brief chase ended when Galvan crashed her SUV into a palm tree off Boca Chica Boulevard and the southbound frontage road of U.S. Expressway 77/83.

A motive was not clear in the case but Galvan appeared before a Brownsville Municipal Judge where she received a $25,000 dollar bond.
