A movie theater worker from Laguna Heights man is behind bars after authorities learned about an alleged sexual relationship between him and a 12-year-old girl.
Cameron County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested Jose Luis Aguilera on multiple counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child on Thursday.
The 20-year-old man worked at the Island Cinema on South Padre Island and is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with the girl.
Court records released in the case show that Aguilera met the girl through her mother.
The Cameron County woman thought Aguilera and her daughter were just friends but learned through a relative that two were dating and sexually active.
The girl allegedly told deputies that she and Aguilera had consensual sex at least six times since February.
Court records show that the two had sex in an alleyway near her house in Laguna Heights as well as a cemetery and vacant apartments in Port Isabel.
The girl told deputies that she and Aguilera even had sex upstairs at the Island Cinema when he was supposed to be threading a movie reel.
Court records suggest they may have even consumed alcohol together and that also sex in the rear parking lot of the Laguna Vista Public Library.
Island Cinema managers could not be immediately be reached for comment.
Aguilera remains in custody under $105,000 dollars in bonds after appearing before a Cameron County magistrate judge on Friday morning.
