Two restaurants separated by U.S. Highway 281 along East University Drive in Edinburg couldn’t be farther apart when it comes to kitchen cleanliness.
Marlin Colima on 1703 E University Dr. scored 21 demerits on a health inspection report.
Golden China Buffet on 401 E University Dr. scored zero demerits.
Kitchen cops found expired foods, cross contamination violations with raw and cooked foods and dirty countertops during a health inspection check at Marlin Colima.
The owner, Jose Ruiz, told the Food Patrol he will be working extra hard to make the needed improvements and asked the public not to discount his establishment.
Ruiz has only been the owner for about a month.
On the other hand, Golden China Buffet’s owner, Rita Chen, credited her success with watching Food 4 Thought every Wednesday night.
