Mexican media outlets are reporting that armed men used a helicopter in a Wednesday afternoon attack on a middle school that left a 13-year-old girl injured.
The El Proceso newspaper and other Mexican media outlets reported the helicopter's use in the Wednesday afternoon attack.
El Proceso reported that the attack took place at the Secundaria No. 4 off Avenida Acapulco in Reynosa's Colonia San Ricardo.
The neighborhood is located near a Soriana supermarket major shopping centers at the intersections of Bulevar Morelos and Libramiento Alvaro Obregon.
Witnesses told reporters that a green helicopter was seen flying overhead.
El Proceso reported that the gunmen appeared to be firing without aiming at specific targets.
The newspaper reported that 13-year-old Daniela Oyervidez was shot in her right thigh and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The shooting was reported on the City of Reynosa's Twitter account but details were not reported about the helicopter attack.
Tamaulipas state officials normally post shootouts and other incidents on a special website but the Reynosa school attack was not reported there.
