Arizona Governor Jan Brewer paid for the video, where prominent politicians are asked if they actually read Senate Bill 1070, to which they respond, "No."
Action 4 News decided to do the same with Brownsville City Commissioners who recently approved a resolution against the controversial Arizona law.
District 1 Commissioner Ricardo Longoria, Jr. co-signed the resolution, but admitted he did not read the whole 13-page document.
"I did not read the whole law in its entirety,” Longoria said.
Commissioner Edward C. Camarillo of District Four also voted to pass the resolution but said he did not read the whole law either.
Of all Brownsville City Commissioners, Commissioner Charles Atkinson of District Two was the only commissioner to abstain from voting.
He said he too did not read Arizona’s law.
"When that resolution was put on there, I had not read it,” said Atkinson about the law, “so I didn't want to vote on something without having knowledge of what exactly that law stated."
When asked what purpose the resolution served, Commissioners Camarillo and Longoria agreed the City of Brownsville does not intend to support immigration legislation similar to that of Arizona.
Action 4 News tried contacting the three remaining Brownsville Commissioners who voted to approve the resolution.
Melissa Zamora of District Three sponsored the resolution but did not return repeated calls and an email.
Commissioner At Large Rose Gowen did not return calls either.
Commissioner At Large Anthony P. Troiani did not get back to Action 4 News but has been unavailable because of an ongoing trial.
