In the race for District 1 for the city commission Gus Ruiz defeated incumbent Larry Galbreath. Ruiz received 51 percent, or 572, of the votes versus Galbreath’s 500 votes.

Basilio Sanchez received 53 votes.

District 2 was more heated and the final results will likely be recounted, as three votes separated the two candidates from victory.

The final results showed challenger Elena Flores defeating incumbent Robert Leftwich 374 to 371.

According to city law, the minimal difference in votes qualifies for an automatic recount.

Leftwich told Action 4 News he felt several votes were left out.
