A murder victim killed by two men allegedly trying to collect a drug debt has been identified as a 32-year-old man from Michoacán, Mexico.

The murder took place on Palos Altos Drive north of Weslaco on March 8th.

Suspects Andres Guadalupe Lozano and Francisco Hernandez Zamora were identified and arrested but the body of their victim remained unidentified.

The mother of Freddy Baltazar-Rodriguez came forward after receiving a private call saying her son had been killed in Hidalgo County, Texas.

The Michoacán woman contact deputies, who made arrangements through the Mexican Consulate to have her come to the United States.

Baltazar-Rodriguez’s mother identified her son’s body and told deputies she had last seen her son on February 2010.

She told investigators had received a call from him stating he was in Texas.

The Michoacan woman said she had no idea why her son would be here.

Investigators are still working to identify the organized crime group responsible for dispatching the two alleged drug debt collectors.
