Action 4 News rode along with Mission police during an undercover operation to see if stores are selling cigarettes to minors.

Under state law, cigarettes can only be sold to people 18 years and older.

Mission Police Sgt. Jody Tittle told Action 4 News that some stores don’t comply with the law.

The police department conducted a sting operation to bust store clerks selling cigarettes to minors late Friday night.

Police used a decoy, who if  asked their age, had to have to be honest about but even the truth won't stop some clerks from selling.

A clerk at T-Rey Meat Market off Inspriration Road in on the city’s southside allegedly sold cigarettes to a 16-year-old working undercover.
