Traffic is snarled off the westbound lanes of U.S. Expressway 83 in Pharr.

Officials said westbound U.S. Expressway  83 from I Road to Sugar Road will be reduced to one lane from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities said U.S. Highway 281 South and west connector to McAllen will closed.

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) officials are asking motorists to be patient, to allow more time for travel and to plan alternate routes.
