A Brownsville woman serving a life sentence for killing her three children has returned to the Rio Grande Valley to testify in her husband’s capital murder trial.
Angela Camacho was booked in the Cameron County Jail on Thursday.
Jail records show she’s listed as a witness in the case against her common law husband John Allen Rubio.
Neither prosecutors nor defense attorneys can comment on the case due to a gag order but court records show Rubio’s capital murder trial is set for Thursday, February 18th.
But Camacho won’t be alone on the witness stand.
Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) inmates Hilda Barrientos and Manuel Rolando Rubio were transferred to the Cameron County Jail earlier this week.
Jail records show they are also listed as witnesses in the Rubio case.
Their relationship to the case is not clear but court records show that Barrientos is serving prison time for a possession of a controlled substance case.
Manuel Rolando Rubio is serving a lengthy sentence in a rape case from Houston but court records shows he used to live in Brownsville.
Brownsville police arrested Camacho and John Allen Rubio back in March 2003 for the murder of their three children, ages 3 years told to 2 months old.
Court records show the children were brutally murdered and then decapitated.
Camacho was sentenced to life in prison after taking a plea agreement back in June 2005.
John Allen Rubio was originally sentenced to death but was granted a new trial by a higher court.
