The suspect in an adult day care shooting in Edinburg died while receiving medical care in the hospital.
Authorities told Action 4 News that the shooting happened at the Pride & Joy Adult Day Care at 305 East Cano Street around 9:30 a.m. this morning.
An elderly man walked into the adult day care center with a gun.
Police said the gunman shot and killed an elderly man.
Witness Irma Garcia told Action 4 News that she and almost 100 people were inside the adult day care at the time of the shooting.
Garcia said the gunman told everyone to leave or he would kill them all.
The identity of the victim has not been released while his body remains inside the facility.
Edinburg police told Action 4 News that the suspect allegedly refused to turn himself in when officers arrived at the scene.
Police confirmed that that an officer fired his weapon and hit the suspect.
Paramedics transported the suspect to a local hospital where he later died.
The suspect’s identity has not been released and there is still no word on the motive.
Witnesses are being still being questioned by police.
