A federal jury is deliberating the fate of a Harlingen police captain accused of sexually harassing a female police officer.

Police officer Alicia Garcia filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Capt. Ramon Vela and the City of Harlingen back in August 2006.

Garcia claims Vela sexually harassed her and turned her down for a promotion because she turned down his advances.

The two faced each in court on Tuesday morning in a trial before U.S. District Court Judge Andrew Hanen in Brownsville.

Testimony finished in the case midday Wednesday.

Jurors have spent the afternoon trying to reach a verdict.

Action 4 News will continue to follow the outcome of the case.
