Border Patrol cases yield $3.3 million of pot

More than $3.3 million dollars worth of marijuana is off the streets after Border Patrol agents found more than 4,200 pounds of it in two weekend seizures.

A K-9 officer allegedly alerted Border Patrol agents at the Sarita checkpoint to the possible presence of drugs inside a travel trailer on Saturday.

Border Patrol agents allegeldy found 94 bundles with 2,180 pounds of marijuana hidden inside a false compartment.

On Sunday, Border Patrol agents at the Falfurrias checkpoint another K-9 officer allegedly helped authorities find another 112 bundles with 1,329 pounds of marijuana inside an 18-wheeler.

Authorities estimate the combined 4,243 pounds of marijuana are worth more than $3.3 million dollars.

The two cases are now being investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
