MCALLEN, TEXAS (AP) -- The search continues for a missing pilot and his plane not heard from since Monday afternoon over northern Mexico.
Andrew Howard of McAllen was returning alone from a flight earlier Monday to Torreon, Mexico when he had to fly around heavy thunderstorms over Monterrey, Mexico.
A statement issued by his family says the 52-year-old pilot radioed the McAllen tower at 1:15 p.m. and gave no indication of trouble, but he must have been low on fuel.
It's believed Howard likely crash-landed in Mexico between San Fernando and Reynosa.
Mexican transportation officials have been searching by helicopter for Howard since Tuesday.
Howard is chief pilot at McCreery Aviation, in charge of charter and air ambulance services.
