A Rio Grande Valley wildlife refuge and a national park site got $2.4 million dollar in stimulus funds on Thursday.
U.S. Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz (D-Corpus Chrisit) announced the funding for the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge and Palo Alto National Battlefield.

The stimulus funds will be used to:

- Continue restoration of Bahia Grande Wetland Unit
- Construct 80 to 85-foot long, one-lane vehicle bridges to span marine tidal channels
