If you build it they will come.

The former Albertson's building looks nothing like a grocery store anymore.

Instead valley residents are filling up the aisles and going home with a paycheck.

With a simple cut of a red ribbon, the new United Health Group Service Center is officially in service.

For those who live in the valley and especially Harlingen city leaders, this new venture couldn't come at a more opportune time.

Mayor Boswell says, "This is a great day for Harlingen and the surrounding communities."

A tour of the newly renovated facility shows the amount of employees it can eventually hold.

Azael Lopez was part of the hiring initiative once United Health Group announced they were coming to Harlingen and says the response from jobseekers was tremendous.

"I've come across people because of the economy and hard times, they're looking for a job. We've come to Harlingen to offer the opportunity for a career."

Operations Manager Kathleen Harris agrees that opening up the doors to new opportunity in Harlingen has proved to be a success for all involved.

"There are so many people who have been layed off. We have 156 seats dedicated to training."Lopez says,"we're gonna be hiring for a while, for the next few months. We're gonna be hiring 200 employees by the end of the year, 600 to 700 employees in the next several years."

The community couldn't be more excited about the prospects.

Representatives answer calls related to Medicare enrollment, benefits, billing and prescription drug coverage.

The Mayor of Harlingen proudly announced that the business comes with a 20 million dollar annual payroll.
