Azael Lopez was part of the hiring initiative once United Health Group announced they were coming to Harlingen and says the response from jobseekers was tremendous.
"I've come across people because of the economy and hard times, they're looking for a job. We've come to Harlingen to offer the opportunity for a career."
Operations Manager Kathleen Harris agrees that opening up the doors to new opportunity in Harlingen has proved to be a success for all involved.
"There are so many people who have been layed off. We have 156 seats dedicated to training."Lopez says,"we're gonna be hiring for a while, for the next few months. We're gonna be hiring 200 employees by the end of the year, 600 to 700 employees in the next several years."
The community couldn't be more excited about the prospects.
Representatives answer calls related to Medicare enrollment, benefits, billing and prescription drug coverage.
