BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS -- A concert promoter arrested on allegations of defrauding the city of Brownsville said he is innocent.
Hiro Hariram said Monday the city should own up to its own mistakes over a concert that never happened.
Hariram said he was hired by the city as a consultant for the Fourth of July Boyz II Men concert.
Hariram claimed the problems began early on when the city failed to pay the booking agent on time.
Hariram's attorney, Michael Young, has produced a letter he believes will clear his client's name.
"I did nothing wrong and I do appreciate that I'm being allowed this platform to speak and be heard at this point in time," said Hariram. "I do have a lot of experience here since 1992 doing a lot of events for Fuego. It will be soon seen and heard that I have a reputable status here."
Hariram is accused of taking more than $9,000 from the city of Brownsville.
City officials said Hariram never returned the money.
