HIDALGO COUNTY, TEXAS -- Susser Holdings and Stripes Convenience Stores committed to a partnership benefitting the residents of Hidalgo and Starr Counties Thursday.

The companies handed a $50,000 check to the United Way of South Texas.

The companies raised the money during the Annual Stripes Turf and Surf Golf and Fishing Tournament.

The money will help with education, income and health and safety net issues.

"It's one of the different charity organizations we help," said Division Manager Conrado Saldivar.  "We help out different organizations throughout the valley and it's one that all our employees and all our management team gets together and helps with."
