FAYETTEVILLE, TENNESSEE -- A 16-year-old McAllen boy was laid to rest Wednesday after he was stabbed to death by a man on a killing spree in Tennessee.
Robert Berber moved to Tennessee from the Rio Grande Valley one year ago.
Berber was one of the youngest victims of Saturday's mass murder along the Tennessee-Alabama border.
Hundreds of Robert's former high school classmates filled the funeral home to capacity to pay their final respects.
"My heart broke," said classmate Meagan Hollis. "I ran through the house. My parents were sound asleep. I came in their room, woke them up and it was awful."
Berber was stabbed to death sometime early Saturday morning.
He is one of five victims in Tennessee who are believed to have died by the hand of prime suspect Jacob Shaffer.
The victim was spending the night with his friend Devin Brooks, who was also killed.
"Just him not being here is, in itself, so much," said classmate Jesse Meadows. "It's a loss, he's not here and he was truly a loss to everyone."
Police arrested Shaffer and charged him with five counts of murder in Tennessee.
He has not been charged yet in connection with the sixth murder, which occurred the same day at a Huntsville, Alabama business.
