LAREDO, TEXAS (AP) -- A Fort Hood soldier from Robstown who was reported as a possible kidnap victim was located unharmed in Laredo.
Spokesman Christopher Grey with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Command told The Associated Press early Thursday there are no indications that Pfc. James Gonzalez was abducted.
Grey says Gonzalez was apprehended Wednesday night during a traffic stop, after leaving a relative's house. Grey says Gonzalez will be turned over to the Army.
A Webb County jailer, who declined to give her name, said Gonzalez was in custody Thursday.
Court records indicate Gonzalez faces trial over an alleged assault involving his girlfriend. He missed a July 10 court date.
The FBI called the family on July 13 to say the Army had received a call saying Gonzalez had been kidnapped and a $100,000 ransom was demanded.
