MCALLEN, TEXAS -- After only a few days, the Salvation Army's 'Beat The Heat' campaign is already in need of more fans.

The Salvation Army has given away more than 250 fans.

Major Dan Ford said Wednesday, many poor people still need help to beat the heat this summer.

Ford explained that the Salvation Army knew there was a need, but not to the extent they have seen.

"Its just been an eye-opener for us to see the need," said Ford.  "Of course, with the record heat we have had and the record consecutive days, we knew there would be a lot of need."

Major Ford has asked for more volunteers to get involved with the program.

If you would like to help, call (956) 682-1468.
