A group of 23 migrant farm workers from the Rio Grande Valley have sued a Delaware vegetable farm.
Miguel Guerrero and 22 men, women and children filed a farm workers lawsuit in Brownsville's federal court on Thursday.
The group alleges that John C. Papen, Richard Papen and Papen Farms forced them to lived in substandard housing between the 1999 and 2007 growing seasons.
The migrant workers also allege that the farmers did not pay minimum wage and did not pay overtime as required by law.
The farm workers all claim they traveled 1,800 miles from Willacy, Starr and Hidalgo Counties to Delaware to pick cabbage, corn, cucumbers and green beans.
Court records show that Papen Farms has not officially been served a copy of the lawsuit.
This is the third lawsuit filed by Valley farm workers in the past four weeks.
