Forensic tests are being conducted on human remains found inside a burning car in Reynosa.
Tamaulipas State Police hope the tests will help confirm the victim's identity.
Investigators said they have gathered enough evidence from the burned vehicle that may result in some leads.
Maria Salazar has told investigators the Ford Contour belongs to her and she let her daughter, Laura Flores, use the vehicle over the weekend.
Salazar has yet to hear from her daughter since then.
The vehicle has Texas license plates.
