First comfirmed swine flu case in Williacy County

WILLACY COUNTY -- Willacy County has its first confirmed cases of swine flu.

According to the Texas State Department of Health Services, there are now three cases in Willacy County.

State health officials said there are now 112 confirmed cases of swine flu across the Rio Grande Vally.

Action 4 News obtained the county by county breakdown:

Cameron: 61
Hidalgo: 37
Willacy: 3
Starr: 11
 

Three people with H1N1 flu have died in Texas:

A Cameron County woman
A Nueces County man
A young boy from Mexico City

The public is urged to follow standard risk-reduction precautions to reduce the spread of illness:

Stay home if you’re sick.
Cover coughs and sneezes.
Wash hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and warm water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
