A Cuban national being held on immigration violations died at a Rio Grande Valley hospital this week.
Arnoldo Cruz Silva passed away at the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen on May 10.
The 59-year-old had been hospitalized for complications related to cancer and leukemia.
According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the preliminary cause of death was natural.
Prior to his treatment at VBMC, Cruz Silva had been cared for at the Retama Manor Nursing Home in Raymondville February 4.
His family has been notified.
State and local health and law enforcement agencies have been notified.
