AUSTIN -- The Texas House of Representatives adjourned on Thursday in honor of Mercedes teacher Judy Dominguez Trunnell.

Trunnell died from the swine flu on Tuesday.

The adjournment was requested by State Rep. Aaron Peña (D-Edinburg).

Peña learned after she died that the mother of two was a distant relative.

"Like everyone in the Valley, we are all interrelated and the word has gotten out," Peña said. "We are all going to take care of each other and we are all going to take care of her. That's the reason we are doing this today, it's because it's a small gesture but it's an important one."
