Rio Grande City school closed due to swine flu cases

Rio Grande City CISD officials closed down Veterans Middle School for the rest of the week following two students testing positive for swine flu.

Action 4 News has confirmed two cases of swine flu in Rio Grande City.

Both cases are students from Veterans Middle School.

One student tested positive Friday while the other was tested on Sunday.

Both students are receiving treatment at home.

Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District Superintendent Roel Gonzalez has been asked to shut down the school for the rest of the week.

Gonzalez said the measures is a precaution to make sure other students do not become infected with the virus.
