A raging wildfire consumed more than three dozen homes northwest of Corpus Christi on Thursday afternoon.
Authorities said the fire started in rural community of Lagarto.
Officials with the Live Oak County Sheriff's Office say the fire started near at approximately 12:42 p.m.
Deputies reported that dozens of vehicles, boats and sheds were also consumed by the fire.
No fatalities were reported but several people were taken by ambulance to area hospitals.
Fire trucks from Lagarto, Three Rivers, George West, Orange Grove, Beeville, Mathis, Whitsett, and a helicopter from the Texas Forestry Service responded to the blaze.
Several bulldozers were brought in to create fire breaks and help contain the fire.
The cause of the blaze remains unknown but fire officials temporariliy kept families out of the neighborhood as there are still "hot spots."
Shelters were set up at Lagarto Community Church, West Shore Baptist Church, and the Zephyr Baptist Encampment said LOC Sheriff authorities.
The Red Cross was on the scene at the Lagarto Fire Department to help bring aid to the victims of the fire.
