This week is centennial week in the City of Pharr.

"The Hub City" is celebrating its 100th birthday.

Rio Grande Valley residents  can experience its rich history this weekend.

"March the 27th, this Friday is going to be a historic day, the 28th is going to be a party day," said historian Aida Escobar.

The opening ceremony is 10 a.m. Friday, followed by free trolley tours and wine tasting until 6 p.m.

On Saturday, enjoy a cook-off at 9 a.m., a spring parade at 10 a.m., and food booths, games and rides beginning at noon.

Finally, listen to live music from Tejano, rock, country and jazz groups like Los Lonely Boys and Little Joe Y La Familia until 10 p.m. Saturday.
