BRENHAM, TEXAS -- A family near Houston has turned to viewers in the Rio Grande Valley in hopes of finding the woman accused of murdering their toddler.

The woman ran off almost a year ago following the crime.

Wednesday is the anniversary of 2 year old Alexia Lopez's death.

Her mother, Sandra Lopez, said she hired 30 year old Berny Mayel Figueroa of Brenham to watch over her two daughters.

When Sandra arrived to pick them up on March 11, 2008, she said she noticed Alexia was having trouble breathing.

An hour later, the child died.

An autopsy confirmed she died of a blunt force trauma to her stomach, which separated her large and small intestines.

Police in Brenham issued a capital murder warrant for Berny Figueroa, but she was never found.

Investigators said she has family in the McAllen area and could be in the Valley.

The Lopez family was in the Valley this past weekend, passing out pictures of Figueroa, so that border authorities would be on the lookout.

Call your local police department if you can help find this wanted woman.
