HIDALGO COUNTY -- A Hidalgo County jury gave a "not guilty" verdict to a Border Patrol agent accused of raping an illegal immigrant woman.

The verdict came down around 5:30 p.m. Thursday in an Hidalgo County courtroom.

Earlier this week, jurors heard from the victim and several witnesses to the alleged incident.

One witness claimed Border Patrol agent Alberto Garcia stopped the woman and the alleged victim to check their legal status.

The witness said that Garcia ordered her to drive to a remote location and raped her friend.

Hidalgo County jurors cleared Garcia of any wrongdoing.
