MCALLEN, TEXAS -- Two men suspected of stealing a cash register from a convenience store have been arrested.
Police arrested Luis Gonzalez and Jaime Rodriguez early Tuesday morning.
The two men allegedly stole the cash register from a Stripes Convenience store on the 5700 block of South Tenth Street in McAllen while the store clerk was in a back room.
Gonzalez and Rodriguez drove off, but an eyewitness wrote their license plate number.
Police later caught up with the two men in Pharr.
"A lookout was placed on this vehicle and Border Patrol agents spotted the vehicle. They stopped the two suspects and arrested both men" said Sgt. Joel Morales wtih the McAllen Police Department. "The stolen cash register was recovered in the City of Hidalgo."
