A Harlingen man issued a Call 4 Action after receiving a phone call that was too good to be true.

Guillermo Urbina said he got a call saying he had won $1,000.

Urbina told Action 4 News the Spanish-language recording gave a series of simple instructions.

“I pressed one and they continued to say that they needed a major credit card in order for them to send me the prize,” he said.
 
That red flag prompted Urbina to quickly hang up.
 
He said he thought that was the end of that but then got another phone call.

"About 20 minutes later I got another call and it was the same recording with the same prize, same prize number but a different voice,” he said.

Urbina said he knew it had to be a scam because the area code from Oregon where he doesn’t know anybody.

He told Action 4 News that his friends of his had also received the same bogus phone calls.

Urbina decided to alert police and they told him it was a scam from Argentina.

Action 4 News tried reaching the "supposed prize givers" and only got a busy signal.

During the second try, Action 4 News only got a pre-recorded message.

“This is a travel-related call and we will contact you again shortly if you wish to stop the calls press 1 now,” the recording said.
 
Harlingen police said they want to warn people if it sounds too good to be true it probably is and anyone who gets one of these calls make a report.
