The Rio Grande Valley's eight state representatives did well in committee assignments for the 2009 Legislative session.
Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus release the session's committee assignments on his Twitter page early Thursday afternoon.
Texas State Rep. Veronica Gonzales (D-McAllen) received chairmanship of the House of Reprensentative's Border & Intergovernmental Affairs Committee.
"With the stimulus monies coming from Washington and the vital importance of Texas' trade with Mexico, I am proud to chair the Border and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee and oversee legislation that impacts our border region's economy," Gonzales said in a prepared statement released Thursday.
