PROGRESO -- An alleged child molester from Georgia is behind bars after trying to enter the United States at an international bridge.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested 45-year-old Progreso resident Juan Cantu around 5 a.m. Sunday.
CBP officers said Cantu tried to enter the United States at the Progreso International Bridge under his alleged alias Ismael Treviño.
A database check revealed Cantu's real name and a warrant for child molestation in Georgia.
Customs officers arrested Cantu and turned him over to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department for extradition.
