More than one in five nursing homes in the Rio Grande Valley received the lowest possible ratings from the federal government.

A Medicare database named "Nursing Home Compare" ranked nursing homes nationwide.

A few Valley nursing homes recieved good ratings.

San Juan Nursing Home was one of two nursing homes that recieved a five-star rating in Hidalgo County.

Area residents told Action 4 News that the on-line database is good for the industry and allows families to make good choices about nursing homes.
