An Rio Grande Valley man is behind bars after challenging another driver to a race on U.S. Expressway 83 in Palmview.
Two drivers were engaged in a race but didn't realize he was in front of an undercover Palmview police unit.
The officer clocked the drivers racing at speeds over 100 miles an hour.
Palmview police spokesman Lenny Sanchez said the officer managed to catch up to one of them and charge him with drag racing.
"He was asking how about the other truck," Sanchez said. "You know our resources are limited of course we would have caught both of them at the same time but were only able to apprehend one."
