Yanez loses Texas Supreme Court bid

The Rio Grande Valley's Linda Yanez lost her bid to become the first Hispanic to serve on the Texas Supreme Court.

The Hidalgo County Democrat ran for Texas Supreme Court Place 8 but lost to Republican Phil Johnson.

According to the Texas Secretary of State, Johnson received 3,968,509 votes or 52 percent of the ballot.

Yanez received 3,406,361 votes or 45 percent of the ballot.

Libertarian candidate Drew Shirley received 231,365 votes or 3 percent of the ballot.
