A Harlingen woman was arrested after she was drinking and driving with a 9-year-old and 17-year-old in the car.

Police stopped Priscilla Nino near the 600 block of Morgan Blvd. after she peeled out of an intersection.

As the officer was trying to pull her grey Dodge over, the woman proceeded to run a red light and drive against traffic.

The 32-year-old eventually turned onto Warren Street where the officer was able to stop her car.

Harlingen police said the woman had a strong smell of alcohol emitting from her breath and her body.

The 9-year-old was sitting in the front passenger seat and the 17-year-old was in the backseat.

Police said backup officers were called in when Nino began cursing and resisting arrest.

She was eventually taken to Harlingen Medical Center for a mandatory blood draw.

A criminal check showed that the 32-year-old had $6,593.50 in Municipal Court Warrants.

She was charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a Child. Her bond for the charge was set at $6,000.

The children were taken to the Harlingen Police Department then released to a grandparent.
