Elderly man killed in Harlingen officer involved shooting

Harlingen police are investigating an officer involved shooting.

Action 4 News is told that officers responded to the 1300 block of Maple Ave. earlier today in reference to a domestic disturbance.

When they arrived—police witnessed a man shot a woman in the chest.

Officers told the man to put his gun down. The man refused and began firing at the police.

Police said they returned fire, and fired eight shots at the man.

The man was killed.

The female victim was identified as his 82-year-old wife. She was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center and is in stable condition.

Police said th3 87-year-old man used a .38 special pistol to shoot his wife.
