Several homes were put in danger Saturday afternoon after a trash fire spread across a Weslaco field.

People were illegally burning trash in their back yard at a home on Mile 13 ½ and F.M. 1015.

There is currently a burn ban for the region.

County Fire Marshals told Action 4 News that the wind blew the fire out of control, causing the flames to spread.

Weslaco Fire Department responded to the scene.

Several calls came in about the fire allowing Weslaco fire fighters to respond to the scene.

The fire department was able to react quickly and control the flames.

No injuries were reported and no homes were put in danger.
