Old bus catches fire in Harlingen parking lot

Bus catches fire in Harlingen

Harlingen Fire Department had to respond to the Valley Transit Center on Wednesday afternoon after an old bus caught fire.

The fire started around 4 p.m. at the VTC parking lot off of Madison and B Street.

The fire captain told Action 4 News that a VTC work crew ignited the fire.

He said that worker's were taking the bus apart for spare parts.

Harlingen firefighters were able to put out the flames.

The parking lot is located a block away from the downtown fire station.

No injuries were reported and the exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
