Search parties organized to look for missing Lyford woman

Authorities have organized search parties to look for a 41-year old woman who went missing in Lyford.

Family members told Action 4 News that they haven’t seen Maria Guadalupe Hernandez since Wednesday afternoon.

Hernandez left for her routine evening walk around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and never returned.

Her family fears the worst.

Lyford police and volunteer firefighters searched a wooded areas on Friday afternoon.

U.S. Border Patrol K-9 officers are also joining the search.

They focused their efforts in wooded areas in and around the city where she liked to walk.

Hernandez works with food service at a hospital in Harlingen and did not show up to work either.

Norma was last seen wearing a blue shirt and black pants.

She has black hair, brown eyes and is described as 5 feet 6 inches and weighing about 130 pounds.
