Authorities have confirmed that more than $1,100 dollars in cash was stolen in a robbery at a check cashing store where the suspect used pepper spray and tied up the clerk.

It all happened at the Check N Go at 910 Morgan Boulevard around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators told Action 4 News that a bearded man entered the store, used pepper spray on the clerk and tied her up.

The suspect took about $1,150 dollars from the drawer and ran off but was chased by officers responding to the hold up alarm.

Police said the suspect got away on Citrus Terrace Drive just a couple of blocks away.

Investigators have released surveillance camera images of the suspect in hopes of identifying him.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his late 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds.

Anyone with information about him is asked to call the Harlingen Crime Stoppers at (956) 425-TIPS or (956) 425-8477.
