What was supposed to be a joyous occasion for several dozen people who packed into the Edcouch- Elsa High School gym Wednesday Night turned sour 15 minutes in.

"As required by law we need 2 board members to be present to canvass the votes and we have no board members here," says the school district attorney.

The 6 newly elected school board members did not get the swearing in they were expecting after voters elected them into office.

None of the current school board members attempted to show up to make the vote officials.

"We regret to inform our community that our leaders have failed them yet again," says newly elected board member Marco Lozano.

Community members are in shock over the lack of respect for their decision to elect a new school board.

"I am very disappointed i didn't expect this."

"It's just another ploy to continue the unnecessary damage."

"I didn't think they were such sore losers."

A stall tactic perhaps on the part of the current members, but a definite slap in the face to the 6 incoming board members who ran on a
campaign against this sort of politics.

The 6 will file a lawsuit first thing in the morning to ensure that if this happens again, the school board refusing to canvass votes and swear them in will be arrested.

On this night, even if the board failed, the community gave their incoming team a massive show of support.

We were unable to make contact with any of the current board members. There is another meeting scheduled for Monday to canvass the votes and swear in the new members.
