The scene in front of Reynera Bakery, located on Mile 5 in Alton, is a far cry from what unfolded early Sunday afternoon.
Yellow police tape and trails of blood are the only reminder that five people were shot and two were killed.
“I wasn't there, Miguel said. “I'm just being told what happened."
Action 4 News is told two men stormed a home across the street from Miguel’s business---outside a family was having a party.
Gunshots went off—five people were hit—this included a 12-year-old boy.
One was killed instantly and another man was taken to the hospital where he later died.
The other three shot, are all listed in stable condition.
“I don't know what to think right now,” Miguel sighed. “People are crazy these days.”
Miguel did not know the family personally.
He knew they owned a nearby business and said they were good people.
"I saw him tend to his customers and never thought this would happen to him."
As for the others who live and work in the area---they are keeping their doors locked tight, tonight.
