The theme in the race was all professional and no slander. The hot seat for the newly created Congressional District 34 of Texas was given the title to Filemon Vela.
Vela said "It’s so exciting to win a race like that."
Supporters for Vela gathered together at Cobbleheads restaurant in Brownsville to receive the news. Jessica Puente Bradshaw says she will be with family at her home. It’s a race both Vela and Bradshaw had similar views regarding fixing the economy.
Vela said "I plan to bring down our levels of unemployment, do everything we can to promote the Port of Brownsville and Port of Harlingen, help bring medical schools to south Texas and we need to make sure we need to fix our educational system"
Jessica Puente Bradshaw said "The economy. What is their economic future, going to be like? What kind of jobs can we expect to see here, the whole country is suffering in that regard, but here in the valley we suffer from an even higher unemployment rate"
Only one person gets to act on it. While the mood in the room was very relaxed, Vela said he’s concentrated on getting the job done and not letting anyone down in the process.
At this time Bradshaw, has not conceded to Vela.
She is awaiting the official results to come in.
